Summer Fishing, How to Bring Live Fish Home

It is a great pleasure to go fishing and catch fish. If you catch a small fish, you can release it. If you catch a larger fish, you want to take it home. However, due to lack of oxygen and other reasons, the fish is often dead after returning home. Especially in summer, when the weather is hot, the caught fish are more likely to die after returning home. What should you do? Here are four tips for preserving fish.
The first move is to prepare “heat insulation and cold protection” tools.
Fishing box is originally the best tool for heat insulation and cold storage of live fish, but it is too heavy and can only hold a few catties of fish, so many people are unwilling to use it. No matter how poor the fishing skills are or how bad the luck is, there will always be a bumper harvest! Once you catch a lot of fish or a lot of fish at a time, how to bring the live fish home on a hot day becomes a big problem. Therefore, four kinds of “heat insulation and cold protection” tools should be prepared:
One is to buy refrigerated bags. Buy a thickened “heat insulation and cold preservation” refrigerated bag that can hold 10-20 kg of fish.
The second is to buy refrigerated bags for ice bags.
The third is to buy tin foil. It is used to wrap ice bags for heat insulation and cold preservation.
Fourth, homemade ice bags. Prepare 2 ~ 4 empty small beverage bags with silk openings and small covers, each with a net capacity of 270 grams (no larger), unscrew the bag covers, put tap water into the refrigerator, and freeze into ice. When starting in the morning, wrap the strict ice bag with a few pieces of tin foil paper, put it into a small refrigerated bag, then put the small bag into a large refrigerated bag, pull a waterproof zipper to prevent it from leaking air conditioning, and when arriving at the river, put it under a big tree or in bamboo forests, woods and grass, and cannot bask in the sun all day long, so as to ensure that the ice bag will not melt when it comes home from the pole that afternoon.
Homemade small ice bags have many benefits. If there are fish, ice is used. If there is no fish, pour out the water and don’t have to carry it home, which is very labor-saving. If there are fewer fish, add fewer bags, and if there are more fish, add more bags, which is flexible and free. Lan Bing and ice bags bought online have to go back and forth with or without fish, which is not labor-saving and cannot be used.
The second move is to pack a bag of cold “cold water” in the river in the morning and put it into a refrigerated bag to “keep cold”
The temperature in the “dog days” is very high. When the pole is collected at 4: 00 p.m. and returned home, the water in the river is no longer “cold water” at 6: 00 a.m. and 7: 00 a.m., but “hot water” which is “warm”. Compared with the river water in the morning, the temperature difference is very large. Many people put the “hot water” in the afternoon river into bags to put the fish, and soon the fish died.
As soon as I enter summer every year, after I have finished fishing positions, nests and fishing rods every morning, I used to pack half a bag of “cold water” in the river with plastic oxygen bags, measure the temperature of the river with a water thermometer, fasten the oxygen bags to prevent water leakage, then put them into the refrigerated bags to “keep cold” and finally cover the refrigerated bags with small umbrella caps. This point has been ignored and even not thought of by many fishermen. It seems to be a trivial matter that is not worth mentioning. It is easy to lift a finger, but it is a very important key link for the undead fish on the way home.
The third move is to “undead fish” on the way home, which must be oxygenated and cooled, and the water temperature in the refrigerated bag should be suitable.
In the past, I thought that there was no frozen fish in the river in winter. It took two or three hours to go home when the temperature was high in summer. The colder the water in the refrigerated bag, the better. Therefore, once I caught more than 10 kg of carp, only added ice and no oxygen to the refrigerated bag, and put 4 bottles of mineral water and about 5 kg of ice at a time. When I went home, I poured the fish into the basin and saw that they were all dead. Then I touched the water in the basin and felt that it was freezing to death. Only then did I suddenly realize that the fish was freezing to death! Since then, I have operated according to the following methods, and there have been no dead fish on my way home.
One is to master how much ice is added and pay attention to the temperature in the water in the bag.
In the afternoon, when collecting the pole and loading the fish home, first put the fish into the cold water in the refrigerated bag, and then pour out the surplus river water. In view of the fact that the temperature of the river water in the morning has not changed much in the refrigerated bag, the ice cannot be added more, and the principle of adding more ice when there are more fish and less ice when there are less fish should be followed. About 5 kg of fish plus a small ice bag is about half a kg of ice, and about 10 kg of fish plus two small ice bags is about 1 kg and 2 liang of ice.
On the way, use the “water temperature meter” to measure the water temperature at intervals. If the water temperature in the refrigerated bag is too cold, the ice bag should be reduced immediately. If the water temperature in the refrigerated bag is higher than that of the morning river water and is not cold, a small cold bag should be added immediately, and the water temperature in the bag should be controlled flexibly. Remember, the water temperature in the refrigerated bag should be roughly the same as that of the morning river water. Never be too cold, otherwise the fish will freeze to death!
The second is to use “outdoor oxygenator” for oxygenation, or “oxygen cylinder” for oxygenation
Fish pond owners generally use oxygen tanks to fill oxygen when selling fish, and the effect of preserving live fish is very good. However, the oxygen cylinder is 6-7 kg heavier and can be bought by friends who drive and fish. Since there is no car, it is better for the elderly not to buy oxygen cylinders. Originally, fishing gear bags and live fish bags are very heavy. If there are more oxygen cylinders, they will not be able to take them and will not be able to stand them.
If you buy an oxygen cylinder, you should pay attention to safety in high temperature weather. When you go down the river, you must not put the oxygen cylinder in the trunk of the car for insolation. You must mention that the river is placed in shade or grass to prevent sun explosion.
Third, the refrigerated bag for fish should be placed at the seat in the car with air conditioning to cool down.
In summer, the ambient temperature in the trunk of the car is extremely high. If the refrigerated bag is placed in the trunk, the fish will definitely die and will rot easily.
The fourth move is to continue to feed fish at home “undead”. These five points must be achieved, and one is indispensable.
One is to build a small fish pond or a small ceramic tile water tank at home to raise live fish caught in the wild.
Bricks, ceramic tiles and cement mortar should be used to build water tanks and fish ponds. Water tanks and ponds built of bricks and ceramic tiles will not die in summer. Water tanks or fish ponds must be built in places that are not exposed to the sun and have good ventilation and lighting. Faucets must be installed. Drainage pipes and gate valves must be set up at the edge and bottom of the fish ponds so as to drain away excess water and clean the fish ponds.
If you use plastic pots, aluminum alloy pots and wooden barrels to put fish, the fish will not survive long. This is the practical summary of my fishing friends and I.
Second, the “original pond water” brought home from wild rivers, reservoirs and weir ponds must not be poured out.
Filter the “original pond water”, pour out the garbage excreted by the fish, then pour the clear “original pond water” into the water tank or fish pond, and add a small amount of tap water to allow the fish to slowly adapt to the tap water.
In the first three days, the water was changed once a day. Every time the water was changed, 2/3 of the original tank water was kept and only 1/3 of the tap water was added. The original tank water could not be completely poured out. The tap water was used to raise fish, because the tap water contained chemicals for treating water. If the original pond water was not used, the fish would survive soon. After 3 days, change the water every 7-10 days. Keeping the “original pond water” is the successful experience of myself, my hometown fishing friends and the owner who specializes in selling fish.
The third is to adjust the water from the tap into a thread and drip it into the water tank or fish pond.
The “ticking” and “ticking” sounds of water add vitality to the fish, add oxygen to the water in the water tank and inject new water. The water in the tank beyond the drain pipe flows away quietly, turning the “stagnant water” in the water tank into “living water”. The ancients said, “Running water does not rot, and a cardinal does not beetle”. If there is no drip from the faucet, a jar of stagnant water will soon become a jar of smelly water, and the fish will certainly survive soon.
The fourth is to use “household oxygenation machine” for oxygenation.
Put the two small oxygenation heads of the oxygenation machine into the water tank or fish pond, and then insert the plug into the electric socket to oxygenate day and night and every day, so that the oxygenation machine will not break down. Without an oxygenator, the fish will surely die! A small oxygenator only in 20 yuan has such a great effect that it must be used.
The fifth is to pay attention to the density of fish in the water tank and the temperature of the water.
As we all know, the density of fish is too high to kill fish due to lack of oxygen. The surplus part of fish must be disposed of immediately, either to send it to relatives and friends, or to put the live fish directly into the refrigerator for quick freezing (without scales or evisceration), so as to avoid “collective death” and give up the dead to protect the handsome! At the same time, the temperature of the water should still be measured by a water thermometer, which is roughly the same as the temperature of the river water in the morning. The water temperature is also adjusted by ice.
